Land use changes are one of the important issues in regional and development planning. According to the advantages and capabilities of satellite data, this technology can help identify and discover these changes; In this research, land use changes in Ghaem Shahr region were evaluated in a period of 22 years. To carry out this research, the images of 2001 ETM + sensor, 2014 and 2023 OLI sensor of Landsat satellite were used. The classification of images was done after determining the educational samples based on the set of main bands of the sensors for the years 2001 to 2023, which was studied using the Jeffries-Matosita criterion with six user classes. And six separate uses (agriculture, garden, barren land, forest, residential and water area) were separated. And for this purpose, the maximum likelihood algorithm was used, which is a supervised statistical method to identify patterns, the probability of a pixel belonging to each of the predetermined classes is calculated, and then these pixels are assigned to the class that has the highest probability. are given Based on the results of the matrix table, the overall accuracy of the classification obtained from the data of the ETM+ sensor for the year 2001 was equal to 89.2 and for the data of the OLI sensor for the years 2014 and 2023 it was calculated as 90.3 and 95.8. Also, Kappa coefficient for 2001 and 2014 ,2023 is 0.85, 0.88 and 0.91, respectively. Finally, using the Thematic Change workflow command, it was used and it takes two classified images from the same area at different times as input and identifies the differences between them. The obtained classification picture shows class transitions. In terms of the changed area in the 22-year period, the class of garden and residential land has increased the most, so that the area of these classes increased from 22.5 and 12 percent of the total area of the studied area in 2014 to 43.5 and 12 percent, respectively. It reached 20.8 percent in 2023, which means an increase of more than 7694 hectares in garden lands and 3139 hectares in residential lands. has done. Also, the class of agricultural land has had the greatest decrease with a decrease of 11,102 hectares and 29.1%. This reduction is caused by the conversion of agricultural land into garden and residential land in the study area. Other water classes and barren and forest areas decreased by 0.3, 0.2, and 0.4 percent, respectively. In general, the use of satellite images for the preparation of land use maps and their changes are essential in environmental resource management planning. And the results of this research show that the area of forest lands has decreased and over time, the pattern of land cover and consequently land use has undergone a fundamental change and transformation, and human factors have played the most important role in this process. is In ghaemshahr city, a significant part of the conversion of garden and agricultural lands is related to the replacement of residential use instead of these lands.
