Iron increases the growth of chlorine-resistant microorganisms in drinking water distribution system, leading to an increase in disinfection cost, in addition to problems regarding changes in odor and taste of water. In order to remove iron from water, diverse techniques are being used including oxidation and filtration, absorption or catalytic bed filtration, ion exchange, softening, biofiltration and adsorption. One of the cheapest methods to remove iron from drinking water is adsorption by cheap minerals such as glauconite. In this study, drinking water iron removal by two mineral absorbent glauconites from Sarakhs and Maraveh Tapeh has been investigated. Material and methods: The natural glauconites were collected from glauconitic sandstones in Sarakhs (Neyzar formation) and Maraveh Tapeh (Aitamir formation) and were processed in the laboratory and graded in particle diameter 0.5-1.0 mm. The specific surface area and volume of the cavities of the two specimens were determined by BET analysis by nitrogen absorption method. In order to study the kinetic and equilibrium behavior of the adsorption process, iron adsorption kinetic and adsorption isotherm curves on glauconite absorbents have been determined through experimental tests. These tests were done at three pH levels (5, 7, and 9). The aqueous solutions containing 5 mg/l of iron in a volumetric flask were exposed to different amounts of the absorbent at a constant temperature (20 °C). Results and discussion: BET analysis as a nitrogen absorption method revealed the specific surfaces of the two glauconite samples from Sarakhs and Maraveh Tapeh as 0.999 and 2.833 m2/g, respectively. The pore volume of Sarakhs and Maraveh Tapeh glauconites were measured as 0.006 and 0.0123 cm3/g, respectively and the average pore diameter were determined 24.07 and 17.31 nm, respectively. The results indicated that as the pH increased, the iron adsorption capacity and absorption rate by the glauconite from Sarakhs and Maraveh Tapeh increased significantly. Comparing the iron adsorption of glauconites revealed that the extracted glauconite from Maraveh Tapeh had more iron adsorption capacity than that of Sarakhs, corresponding to the higher specific surface area of this absorbent. At pH 5, 7, and 9, the ultimate absorption capacity of glauconite from Maraveh Tapeh was 17.3, 11.7 and 13.9 % higher than that of Sarakhs. The kinetic model regression indicated that Hu et al. and Ritchie's models have absolutely similar behavior in describing the iron adsorption kinetics curves on glauconite absorbents. Eventually, it can be stated that the process of iron adsorption by glauconite follows the second order kinetics. The best isotherm model to describe the iron adsorption equilibrium data on glauconite are the models developed by Temkin and Davoudinejad. Accordance with Davoudinejad's model demonstrates the presence of monolayer adsorption along with heterogeneous adsorbent surface and steric hindrances for absorption. Complying with Temkin’s model indicates that absorption enthalpy is a linear function of absorbent surface loading. Conclusion: Glauconite mineral absorbents extracted from Sarakhs and Maraveh Tapeh performed better than natural Zeolite and Kaolin and had similar performance to Manganese zeolite, Pyrolusite, and Pumice for iron absorption from the water. Regarding their abundance in Iran, they can be used as an affordable method to solve the problem of the presence of iron in drinking water in Iran.}, keywords = {Adsorption,Glauconite,Sarakhs,Maraveh Tapeh,Kinetics,Isotherm}, title_fa = {مقایسه کارایی جذب آهن از آب آشامیدنی با استفاده از جاذب‌های طبیعی گلاکونیتی (مطالعه موردی: ماسه‌سنگ‌های گلاکونیت‌دار سرخس و مراوه‌تپه)}, abstract_fa = {سابقه و هدف: وجود آهن در آب‌های زیرزمینی، حتی در غلظت‌های کم برای استفاده شرب مشکل های بسیاری را بوجود می‌آورد. آهن رشد انواع میکروارگانیسم‌های مقاوم به کلر را در شبکه توزیع افزایش می‌دهد که سبب افزایش هزینه‌های گندزدایی، افزون ‌بر مشکلات بو و طعم می‌شود. روش‌های متنوعی برای حذف آهن بکار گرفته می‌شود که شامل اکسیداسیون و فیلتراسیون، فیلتراسیون با بستر جذبی یا کاتالیزوری، تبادل یونی، نرم‌سازی (سختی‌زدایی)، بیوفیلتراسیون و جذب سطحی است. یکی از ارزانترین روش‌های حذف آهن از آب آشامیدنی جذب سطحی با استفاده از کانی‌های ارزان معدنی همانند گلوکونیت است. در این تحقیق حذف آهن از آب آشامیدنی از طریق دو جاذب معدنی گلوکونیت سرخس و مراوه‌تپه مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. مواد و روش‌ها: نمونه‌های گلوکونیت طبیعی از ماسه سنگ‌های گلوکونیت‌دار سازند نیزار در مقطع سرخس و ماسه سنگ گلوکونیت‌دار سازند آتامیر در مقطع مراوه‌تپه جمع‌آوری شد و در آزمایشگاه فرآوری شده و با قطر ذرات mm 0/1-5/0 دانه‌بندی شد. سطح ویژه و حجم حفرههای دو نمونه با استفاده از آنالیز BET به روش جذب نیتروژن بدست آمد. بررسی رفتار سینتیکی و تعادلی فرآیند جذب، منحنی‌های سینتیکی و ایزوترمی جذب آهن بر جاذب‌های گلوکونیت، از طریق آزمایش تعیین شد. این آزمایش‌ها در سه pH معادل 5، 7 و 9 انجام شد. محلول‌های آبی حاوی آهن در بالن ژوژه‌هایی در تماس با میزانهای مختلف جاذب قرار گرفت و دما در °C 20 تنظیم شد. نتایج و بحث: انجام آنالیز BET به روش جذب نیتروژن بر نمونه‌های گلوکونیت نشان داد که سطح ویژه دو نمونه گلوکونیت نیزار سرخس و آتامیر مراوه‌تپه به ترتیب معادل 999/0 و m2/g 833/2 است. همچنین حجم حفره های گلوکونیت سرخس و مراوه‌تپه به‌ترتیب 006/0 و cm3/g 0123/0 و قطر متوسط حفره ها نیز به ترتیب 07/24 و  nm 31/17 تعیین شد. نتایج آزمایشات نشان داد که با افزایش pH، ظرفیت و سرعت جذب آهن بر گلوکونیت سرخس و مراوه‌تپه به‌طور چشمگیری افزایش می‌یابد. مقایسه نتایج جذب آهن بر گلوکونیت سرخس و مراوه‌تپه  میزان جذب بیشتر آهن بر گلوکونیت مراوه‌تپه است که با سطح ویژه بیشتر این جاذب نسبت به گلوکونیت سرخس متناظر است. ظرفیت جذب نهایی جاذب گلوکونیت مراوه‌تپه در pHهای 5، 7 و 9 به ترتیب 3/17، 7/11 و 9/13 درصد بیشتر از ظرفیت جذب گلوکونیت سرخس بدست آمد. نتایج رگرسیون مدل‌های سینتیکی گویای رفتار کاملاً مشابه مدل‌های ریچی و هو برای توصیف منحنی‌های سینتیک جذب آهن بر جاذب‌های گلوکونیت بود. درنهایت با توجه به انطباق مدل‌های سینتیکی گفته شده بر داده‌های تجربی، می‌توان گفت که در فرآیند جذب آهن بر گلوکونیت، جذب از سینتیک درجه دوم پیروی می‌کند. بهترین مدل ایزوترم  توصیف داده‌های تعادلی جذب آهن بر گلوکونیت مدل‌های تمکین و داوودی‌نژاد تعیین شدند. تبعیت از مدل داوودی‌نژاد نشان‌دهنده وجود جذب سطحی تک‌لایه به همراه ناهمگنی سطح جاذب و وجود ممانعت‌های فضایی بر سر راه جذب بوده و تبعیت از مدل تمکین  آن است که آنتالپی جذب تابعی خطی از بارگیری سطح جاذب است. نتیجه‌گیری: جاذب‌های معدنی گلوکونیت سرخس و مراوه‌تپه کارایی بهتری از زئولیت و کائولن داشته و توانایی مشابهی با زئولیت منگنز، پیرولوزیت و پامیس در حذف آهن از آب‌ دارند و با توجه به وفور آن‌ها در ایران می‌توانند ‌بعنوان روشی ارزان قیمت برای حل مشکل آهن در آب‌های آشامیدنی کشور مورد بهره‌ برداری قرار گیرند.}, keywords_fa = {جذب سطحی,گلوکونیت,سرخس,مراوه‌تپه,سینتیک,ایزوترم}, url = {https://envs.sbu.ac.ir/article_97993.html}, eprint = {https://envs.sbu.ac.ir/article_97993_57e7314c1ce8019541f8b7f391c9dde4.pdf} }
